Flower Poem by Jacob Bjork

Flower

There's a boy I used to know and he held,
Held the world tightly in his hands
But then one day his grip, it slipped
And he fell, got a prick from a needle
That needles it sticks in his soul
Inside his head that devil shakes him so
He's lost all the questions in his heart
To understand why he fell apart

At night he cannot rest, all he wants is some sleep
And he screams, 'These drugs don't fix this hole inside my chest'
You can hear a shrill, a sound of desperation
Calling out to anything that will let him know
That something can save him from the cold
Because every little thing he ever hoped to be
Is lost in the ocean's sea

You tripped and fell
Into a hole called hell
And nobody can hear you yell
But you scream so loud
Hoping for someone to pull you out
I hope you know there's a ladder in your pocket
All you have to do is look deep inside
To remember where you left it

Because were all waiting here for you
Ever since you disappeared, nothing's been clear
But I hold on now, for I can't let go
In hopes that one day
You will find your way back home

He sits in his hole, losing all hope
He thinks of leaving this world behind
But doesn't have the guts to end it tonight
Everyone wishes they could leave sometimes
It takes a man to believe in faith

So give yourself a break, you don't have to take it all away
The heroin in your veins, it makes you lose your hold
Of what's real and what's right
Hold on for now and you'll make it through the night
You can pull the needle from your arm
Only then will you find some space to grow
A place where you'll never be alone
You're right here, all you have to do is reach
And the rest, it will fall at your feet

You tripped and fell
Into a hole called hell
And nobody can hear you yell
But you scream so loud
Hoping for someone to pull you out
I hope you know there's a ladder in your pocket
All you have to do is look deep inside
To remember where you left it

Because were all waiting here for you
Ever since you disappeared, nothing's been clear
But I hold on now, for I can't let go
In hopes that one day
You will find your way back home

We have some common ground, this boy and me
He was me as just a seed
But I bloomed to life and just in time
To save my own skin
I opened my eyes and he let me back in
Out of the hole I came with a ladder
That I never would have found, if I didn't center on the fact
That I knew I wasn't gonna come back

We all need a little love to fear
Otherwise we'd have no reason for reality to be here
