Dark Poem by Rafik Romdhani

Dark

Night obscures the day's eye
But is not enemy to dawns on the way
Birds' heads now asleep under their wings
See the full light of life in blindfolded skies
Night closes not all eyes
Some stay wide-open to stare at dust
Left after the flight of dark that bathes
The moon inside clouds
Night wishes to taste your tears and mine
For it has no eyes and it never cries.
It calms feathers strokes my cat
unlike Sun it sings the moans that fall ocean-deep 'n rise
Night tucks Men's heads in pillow like a Mother
And more. Night's a mother stilling its Hamlets'worries and fears as they soliloquize.
Due to unequal destribution of light 'n love Night puts sword on sunshines'necks
Andmercilessly ends their lives
Night's trust is only in dawns but not in days
The dawn is innocent and never lies
Always the same redness born to dark
And dew after 3.a.m.Then I am- a pen to pain-
In one hand and the void of life in the other.
The Sun begets new times with old cries
My mind's rivers like my eyewater dry at day
But in pitch dark 'nows' grow 'n build ties
With the closest bird nesting nearby.
Dark rethinks my madness and bets I am wise
Tames the years in sighs; stirs my thoughts.
Waves leap in their seas while I swim my ideas
Drinking avidly my own verse in ink
Another way to taste life away of light I think
Night taught me to shut the window against
Alien barkings and unwelcome wind
Taught me to sail the universe; this sounds'
begetter. To give it millions of poetic mouths
That search me and whisper to me at this hour
Night is true and tasty 'n with no lips for lies
Night is arms and hugs and peace in wars
The verse now freed runs from me- fire in weed
My eye to sky-awake-and no vein in me dies
Night is my thoughts' collector and my fire
Wherever it takes me it pulls me out of tumult
It takes me to be among the wings of words
Free and drunk with things to be inked
Politics is trivial and to the mind of the Night
And to my own mind.
A parliament of owls run by Darkness
Is far more trustworthy than our parliament.
And no way to compare.
A paliament of owls never catches 'n eats devil
And never ratifies laws against its people
Society under light is spiderweb of 'give 'n take'
Of corruption in the name democracy.
In the Name of light and sacrifices under umbrellas. Ah! Here you live your life tipsy
You' d love to say everything to dark in one go You won't finish for Night is forever reader
And forever listener.
Light can't in one basket collect all planets
Nor find solution to the isolated birds, flowers,
Souls, and deserts.
But Dark at least unites stars in one ceiling
'N calls scars by sweet names for their healing

Nice poem devoted to the importance of darkness vis-a-vis light of the day. I would like to quote a few beautiful lines from the poem as under: Light can't in one basket collect all planets Nor find solution to the isolated birds, flowers, Souls, and deserts.
