Darkness Poem by Scarlett Voight

Darkness

I am Caught in a void
of swirling darkness
It consumes everything around me
Unable to see, I blindly
search for a way out
But I can't find it!
Why am I here? What should I do?
These questions run through my head
never stoping, tell there is a single light
I begin to crawl towards it, but cold hands
grab my wrist and turn into iron shackles
I continue to stare intently at the light
Until someone steps out of the darkness
Unable to see the persons face it turns
and walks away
At that moment I understood who it was
I screamed your name,
but you never came
You never looked my way
Just kept walking on
I struggled again to follow you,
but the shackles get tighter with each gasping breath
Then you begin to fade
The light disappears

I am caught in a void of swirling darkness

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Scarlett, Life is full of light and darkness. I think it was Francis Bacon who said 'Without the dark you cannot see a shining light' (or something similar!) . A gripping poem and well written so I'm sure it got you some good marks. Thank you very much for your kind comments on my poem 'Questions' If you find the answers please let me kno53225w! Sincerely Egal..
