Darkness Poem by Natalie Sheldon

Darkness

More and more
Darkness seeping in
Stop I implore
I simply cannot win

There in my sleep
I cant even weep
Boss, wife, mum
How am I numb

I miss the way it used to be
The time when I was me
I miss the joy in my heart
Now laughter tears me apart

So many dying
So many left crying
The world hit with coronavirus
How can i think of us

Put on the show
So they dont know
Hold your head up high
Dont look them in the eye

Or they will see
What you've come to be
An empty shell
In your personal hell

Pay your Bill's
Take your pills
Day in day out
No need to shout

Hardly any money
No longer funny
Served our eviction
Now it's time to get gone

Where will we go
No ones to know

A deeply poignant write. Yes, with this pandemic, we are in darkness yet, there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.
