Darkness Within (A Poets Life) Poem by Bryan Lee Greer

Darkness Within (A Poets Life)

Rating: 5.0

In a short life of writing and rhyme
he lived to create barely making a dime
Writing of life and love and requiem
living off cigerettes, whiskey, and opium

Late at night the ideas flow
flowing from places we'll never know
his body a vessel for some unknown force
a collaberation with an outside source

Egocentric excess of the darkest themes
designing from a muse of opium dreams
a darkness within inspiring his art
a darkness so deep, deep in his heart

Creating from life a life of his own
living 'IN LOVE' yet dying alone
a force from within providing the coarse
a life of sex and sin and the utmost remorse

The darkness within leading the way
leading his life day after day
unable to fight it he did what he could
the darkness within never quite understood

Apart from the world he lived his life
he lived it alone never taking a wife
a darkness within not quite understood
searching for answers he did what he could

Alone in the darkness, living in fear
learning to live with the voices he'd here
Using the voices as though his own
he used the words as his alone

Always on the move never settling down
he kept on travelin from town to town
searching for somthing not sure he'd find
hope for salvation in the back of his mind

near the end all alone he faced his fears
reaching a place he'd searched for for years
with the hand of god leading the way
he found the answers he learned to pray

A feeling within the end was near
no longer affraid to face his fear
he made his peace with god above
living alone, yet dying 'IN LOVE'.
