Darkroom Poem by April Humason

Darkroom

In this darkroom, I dwell,
Lost in gloom's haunting spell,
A journey headed for doom,
Since my life began in the womb.

As I've grown, still I'm alone,
Love remains a realm unknown,
Hatred's grip I've come to see,
A burden that won't set me free.

Tears fill my eyes, unbidden,
For the painful years, I've ridden,
Reliving fears I keep concealed,
From those who could never fully yield.

Within this darkroom's embrace,
I find no solace, no saving grace,
Toward an uncertain fate, I'm led,
Since I was in the womb, I dread.
