Darling Rose: A Comparison Poem by Akachukwu Lekwauwa

Darling Rose: A Comparison

Rating: 5.0

a beautiful maiden
desired among the rest
in a bouquet of beauties
still much desired
cos you stand out
shine bright
and smell right

from dawn to dusk
the early dew
the noonshine
or moonshine
your beauty to attest

sometime last summer
you went wild
but your hips was still colourful
and properly curved
see, I have no doubt it will last into winter
so that I still loved it

for your love
when I shall be called a florist
I shall love it

be you in your pink
your red or your white apparel
and whatever colour
come the end of spring
which nature chooses
to bestow on you
you shall retain your lovelies

one man look upon you and see love
another see peace
but another comes and take you
for all the beauty

you are popular and adored
lily and daisy do not begrudge
I keep in touch always
for your aesthetic touch
enlivens my heart
be it in Persia, Colorado or
the golf of my senses
wherever, your aura reach out
and works wonders

however hybridized you become tomorrow
I will always love you
because you will always bloom
I will always love you
rose
