Dates Poem by Kenji McCollum

Dates

As of the time between our first date and now,
We have been on a number of dates between that time,
And every one seemed better than the last,
Us going to the pool,
Chilling at my house and just laying around,
Watching shows,
And playing games,
Cuddling and kissing,
When we went to the river,
And as well as the pool with your mother and siblings,
Spending Fourth of July with you,
Going to oaks park,
Getting stuck on the roller coaster facing upwards,
Making you try new things,
Getting scared together,
Going rollerskating,
Having dinner together,
Trying fried ice cream,
All of it has felt like one of my lucid dreams,
that I remember so clearly only so often,
You make me so happy when I'm around you,
And it's fun just being with you,
It feels so easy and normal,
But you always get me and make me try new things as well,
And there are so many things that I've been looking for my whole life,
That now I've found in you,
I don't want to say we are soulmates,
But I feel we might be.
