Dawn To Dusk Poem by Diana van den Berg

Dawn To Dusk

You were the dawning of my days;
you were the walking of my ways;
you were the kite that skimmed my sky;
you were the twinkling of my eye.

You were my horizon misty blue;
you were my near of every hue;
you were the freedom that let me be;
you were the moon that rolled my sea.

Yours were the arms that raised me up;
yours was the touch that filled my cup;
yours were the words I floated on;
yours was the heart that birthed my song.

Oh, dawn is dawn
and dusk is dusk
and never the d’s shall meet
for in between them lies a sea
that never can be breached...

Oh, dawn is dawn
and dusk is dusk
and never the d’s shall meet
for bright is bright
and night is night
and light, of foot, is fleet.
