Day Of A Gull Poem by Danielle Tonsing

Day Of A Gull

Normally above the waves and sea foam,
Gulls fly up and down before diving in.
But here on the shore the birds make their home,
Where mothers and fathers raise their small kin.
The mother shoots below the sea surface;
She remains there for only mere seconds.
Rising up, her mate flies to her service.
Together they feed their precious burdens.
Night has settled upon the sandy shore,
Tide rising so very close to their nest.
Parent gulls fluff their feather to make sure
That their offspring receive only the best.
On the morning, the large sun shining bright,
The parents arise and there they take flight.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote it for a sonnet project I did in English class, but I figured I'd should share.. :)
