Daydream Nights Poem by Julia Miller

Daydream Nights

As I lay me down to sleep,
Please take me down memory lane.
And Lord, please make it a good one,
To blend with my craziest dreams.
I want the colors to be vivid,
And the voices to be real.
I'll play some music to set the mood,
Just to remember how it feels,
On those sleepless daydream nights,
Underneath a lonely town's lonely streetlights,
When we still lived and loved with everything we had,
When we still fought for more than just a not-so-lonely bed.
And tomorrow morning, should I wake up,
I'll thank those cosmic stars,
For another day, another chance,
And these healing bumpy scars.
Because I know it's for the best,
But Lord, tonight it still hurts.
So please remind me love was once upon a time real,
And what that love was once worth.
