Deƴƴinaade Peace Self Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Deƴƴinaade Peace Self

To be quiet or silent
"deƴƴinaade" in Fulɓe or Fulani
indicates a person is at peace
within himself
a marker for the internal process

When peace leaves and then we calm down
it is "feewnude" in Fulfulde or Fula
languages spoken in West and Central Africa

"Jam" like the sticky stuff
that holds bread together
the more common way of saying peace
for 13 million people
speaking Fulfulde languages
