Dead Man Walking Poem by Jabale Rahmat

Dead Man Walking

Rating: 5.0

A sip of whiskey
Few puffs from a cigarette
Numbs the brain for a while
Take me to aloofness
To a city of oblivious
Make me unaware of the reality
Meanwhile, throw me into the dark pit
Dwell by none but soulless entities
So transparent that untouchable
So opaque that everything remains unseen
Dark become inextricable
I become insensible to myself
Once the innocuous reality
Now becomes the demons
Always in sense to eat me whole
In dread, I seek haven
From the psychedelics
And end up as a dead man walking

Heavenly joy of blissful stupor not justified by external realities is aptly captured in the poem. Well thought out and wonderfully written with insight. Focused and factual. Thanks for sharing Jabale.
