Dear Bamboo Poem by Sumali Nagarajan

Dear Bamboo

Rating: 5.0

Dear Bamboo
Each time I look at you
The thing that strikes me
Is your 'class'
Even though you are
Just a 'grass'.

World over you are known
For your resilience
But what touches my core
Is your elegance.

By Jove you are
Stronger than steel
But its your flexibility
That seals the deal.

You don't grow
For first few years
What is holding you back
Is it your fears.

Like many boys and girls
In their childhood years
Are too shy, too timid
Easily dissolving in tears.

But once you start growing
There is no holding you back
As if you were laying a foundation
As if you had a plan from the start.

Soon you will be
A symbol of strength n flexibility
But what takes my breath away
Is still your charm n simplicity.
