Dear Jesus Poem by Johnny Monroe

Dear Jesus

They say I'm not allowed to know you
because my so called sins
(you, personally, never said that right?)
are different than theirs.

They say I'm not allowed to love you
because of who and how I love.

They say I'm not allowed to praise you
because I don't always praise you by the same name
or in the same temple
as they.

They say I'm not allowed to follow you
because I haven't adopted their labels.

They say I cannot do any of these things
because of who I am,
how you made me.

Thank you for making me strong and wise enough to know
that no matter what they say...

I am yours and you are mine.
