Dear Sibulelo Poem by Sipho Mhlanga

Dear Sibulelo

Rating: 5.0

I have never met you
But I know you
I've heard your prayers
I listened when your grandpa whispered
He said it doesn't have to continue
The curse can be lifted.

Sorry to go in so deep
Without introducing myself
I'm Sipho, the son of Moto
He who was buried with a smile
For death never defeated him
But he smiled his breath into our hearts

I speak to him at times
Because when I really need him
He just smiles
Then I know my prayers have been heard
Like the Japanese movies
We don't have to carry the curse with us
But of course a new story for our descendants.

I have seen your smile that hides pain
The well carved thighs
And breasts of our mothers
That shade the scars inside.
Your hair the crown of many generations
And your voice that speaks for the living.

Now I wish had you address
For this letter only has your name
But I hope that out forefathers will speak
And you will hear the answer to your prayers
For it is not their will for you to be a widow
Rather find him you don't speak of
Because of the fear of him crashing.

Look, listen and see the energy
The memory we can create
A new fire for ages
A quanta that gives to the sun

Written in sorrow
By devotion
