My Bed Poem by Sipho Mhlanga

My Bed

Rating: 5.0

Bring me my bed
In my dreams I'll be a poet
My body parts will be the audience
They'll give me a chance
Even when I fumble
They won't laugh at me.

I'll be the best
Please bring me my bed
For visions will be words
They'd pierce the mind like swords
I'd be enlightened to another realm
Speaking of things which man cannot see
Neither feel but long to be.

Allow me to rest my head
For they say those that rest are sad
Let me define sadness
Let me search for joy therein
For with my eyes closed
The future is simple
But is for the ones who are ready.

Let me sleep
To dream of the one I loved
To see beyond her limitations of love
Let me try to love her from afar
For when I  am close
I'm a fool I suppose.

Yes it is painful
But like the water torn apart
I shall heal and be stronger
My love will not stop loving
So my feet will keep on walking
Thank you for allowing me to rest
