Dear Sister Poem by Emmanuel Karikoga

Dear Sister

Dear little sister
I understand you were born
In this era,
Where long dresses have become the thing of the past.
I understand you were born
In this era,
Where fashion can change every second.
I cannot restrict you to wear
Jumpsuits,
Neither can I when it comes to bump shorts,
The same goes when it comes to ripped jeans.

But!
I have four dresses,
That I would want you to wear,
For the reasons best known to myself

The first dress is purely nothing but your school uniform.
You shall wear this dress for a couple of years
In order to discard ignorance.
Before you aspire for anything,
Consider the value of your education
Quoting from Mandela,
"Education is the most powerful tool you can use to change the world."

For you to wear that second dress,
Its going be hard as you might have not thought
Because at that time,
Genuine and non-genuine boyfriends will approach you in all corners
Some call themselves blessers
While others can seduce you,
With the engine of their vehicles
Despite all that!
The dress you should wear is called a graduation gown

Yes there maybe no jobs currently, No one knows what the future holds
Be prepared for the best.
It means that you can be an independent woman,
Something that protects you from harassment by these so called boys.

There shall come a time where you are going to search for that ideal husband,
Some are the Jericho type- they show their true picture before you marry them,
Some are the Jerusalem type- Beautiful on the outer side butdangerous on the inside.
I do not care about your choice,
Because we love different attributes
When it comes to such issues
That guy to marry you,
Should consider my one precondition
Wedding! ! !
And this will entail you to wear the third dress.

With this generation,
Pregnant woman now wear dress tops and tights.
As a loving brother, I have already designed a special dress for you,
It has been there, and its called a maternity dress

These dresses define your life,
If you manage to wear them in the correct manner.
Life in your hands, make the best when you choose
The reaped jeans might be there,
The leg-ins might be there
But!
Do not let that kind of fashion prevent you,
From wearing those four dresses in their correct order.

10 or so years from now,
We shall meet on one occasion.
At that time, my only question would be, "Did you manage to wear the four dresses in their correct order? "
Food for thought

From your loving brother
