For Her Poem by Emmanuel Karikoga

For Her

FOR HER
As the clock ticks to mark the movement of time,
My heart craves to be safely guarded in your arms.
I feel vainglorious knowing that I`m the only fisherman,
Who has caught a whale using a fishing hook.
Many a times;
I have traveled around the world in pursuit of everlasting happiness,
Switched from "Cynthia to Samantha' yet still trapped in disarray.
For the answers I seek can`t be drawn out from an imperfect world,
But the closer you are the closer my resolution is felt,
Thus I can carefully conclude;
Perfection is the ability to accept the imperfection of someone,
Who has the adroitness to ride you to cloud-nine.
I live in a fantasy world where elections are not free yet fair,
Where hoarse voices can sing every-night without intimidation,
Where arguments are considered the first step to congruent realisations,
Where the word love can be overused without any prosecution,
Where a boy & a girl can rule and rock in the name of fondness.
I have knelt down in supplication asking God for scant patience,
So that if we happen to face the full wrath of this world,
We will be unfazed and remain glued by the memories we have shared.
Happy Valentine`s Day to you and only you.
