Death's Sweet Revenge Poem by Michelle Dickson

Death's Sweet Revenge

My finger's near the trigger.
I'm scared of the sound.
My finger's getting closer,
Now I'm homeward bound.

My finger pulled the trigger.
A shot rings out, loud.
My finger pulled the lever,
Now I'm sitting on a cloud.

I look over my shoulder
and what do I see?
Smiling faces.
One for you and one for me.

They smile for me
because I am home.
They're happy for me
because I'm not alone.

They smile for you
because they cannot glare.
They're happy for you
because now you'll have a weight to bare.

Bare the lonliness I've felt
for years and years and years.
Bare the weight I've carried
as you cry your tears.
