Decay

Drought and age have left a stump, a bump where once stood a majestic tree
Pests in dry nests have swallowed its strength a fraction of what it used to be
Splinters of decay lay on display a monument to a faded king of the past
In a modern world plastic cement unfurled false images a vent not made to last
