Deciding This Question Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

Deciding This Question

"WE"
know what?
Sense, thought
fear? The memory
within sick minds? Those
‘blind' prevail, so profoundly.
Some serious feelings thus, lost
in darkness that fills our doorways.
The ugly, the maddened, the hungry
again rising above US … everywhere is
no thing but darkness. "WE" seek to make
sense of this, our ‘wings' swoon; and the faces
of the sun and the moon fail. See upon this Earth
the spoil of humanity, the waste, the vanity; an
inhumanity perpetrated upon all surviving
species by one species: humans. What
is to become of this one species?
The greater universe is now
deciding this question …
