Dedicated To G.B. - Poem by Carly Almonde

waiting for another day to pass,
trying to think of words to say,
but all i can think of is how much it will hurt,
when i tell you i can't be your friend.
i'm sorry i have to make this choice,
but it's you or me boy,
and i can't keep pushing myself in the back,
this time my resolution won't crack.
don't linger on what i'm saying,
cause soon you'll be back on your feet playing,
that game we call life.
and don't waste your time wondering why i'm saying what i do.
just take it as it is, please,
just don't ask why.
because i don't have a direct answer,
and i can't explain it.
it's just something i have to do.

you are a smart kid with a bright future,
so go get your education, improve your literature,
on guitar you'll woo many girls,
in life, you'll suceed beyond everything you dreamed.
so boy just listen to me,
it's time we parted seas.

darkened stains from my unshed tears,
i look away, unable to face my fears.
and i know that feeling will last for a while,
but maybe soon i'll be able to give you a smile.
and i know its confusing how we ended,
and i'm sorry it was so sudden,
but look around and notice,
how its turned our lives, or at least mine,
upside down.
because i've incorporated you so much into my life,
that whenever i turn around you're mentioned,
well now, just forget it.
because soon the feeling will fade,
and i know that we share friends,
well, i guess we'll just have to deal with that.
we're mature and can handle it,
so please don't fret.
come on, we'll get over it.
