Defeated Poem by Oluwadamilare Agbelusi

Defeated

Rating: 5.0

A man breaks,
Even in his prime,
Those who have been gods,
How have they made it?

A man breaks,
Even when unwilling,
Cause the forces he opposes,
Are greater than himself.

A man breaks,
And the world suffer,
His strength he exhausted,
The world has lost another.

A man breaks,
Though unwilling,
But, what's the point?
Why was he proud?

A man breaks,
And losses his strength,
His pride - his strength?
And that make gods?

A man breaks,
And wants to cry,
Cause, all is lost,
His seeming friends are gone.

A man breaks,
When fear comes,
And timidity follows,
Then losses courage.

A man breaks,
And feels feverish,
Cause, he is in pain,
He is discouraged.

A man breaks,
The pain he cannot allay.
His pride is too high,
But, got misty eye.

A man breaks,
His pride can he save?
If he concedes defeat,
Will the world be happy?

A man breaks,
His tears,he has to hide,
He did not see the fall coming,
Humility is another pride.

A man breaks,
And cannot face the world,
But, he is still human,
And has yet otherwise claimed.

A man breaks,
But, that's his thought,
If he calls on God,
He may yet, make.

An insightful philosophical piece of poetry, well articulated and nicely brought forth with conviction. Thanks for sharing Oluwadamilare.
