Define Life Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Define Life

Define life

Following the research
-in North York, GTA
-was a gate in black
-in the ‘Old Colony'
-where once was all, marshland
- (this, still, looked the same!)

Old married the modern
-metal bars were the gate
- (as palace for Royals)
-but a bell, electronic
- (to be pushed "I'm here! ")
-then the push of a knob in reply:
- "Come on in! you're welcome! "
- (unlike past into times
-when guards pushed, manual!)

Gate opened
-the car faced huge doors
-great-white-architect
-humongous monument
-some trees very old
-some grass fresh cut
-Mother Earth, Heaven's scent

Door opened, slightly
-eyes eager and in search
-for angel, princes; appeared instead
-the Hunchback of Notre Dame

Dead lived and, walked and dined,
-like ghosts of Halloween

Seemingly was sick with leprosy
-facial wound were whitened with cream
-and he was the only in huge white palace
-filthy rich he was but, in grave of the kings
-as they are discovered for Pharaohs or Huaris

Same bubbles; as always
- "How can we define life? "
