Dementia Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Dementia

The clock ticks slow, a weary sound,
Old dreams now lost, no longer found.
The world has changed, it feels so strange,
Beyond a comfort's fading range.

Kind smiles appear, a gentle touch,
They try their best, they offer much.
But still, a hollow space remains,
A whisper of forgotten pains.

The sun ascends, the moon descends,
But blurred the line, where day now ends.
Alone I sit, in shadows deep,
While silent tears I softly weep.

If darkness fell, and all was still,
Would peace then come, my heart to fill?
To simply cease, and be no more,
To leave this weary, fading shore.
