Democracy Installed Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Democracy Installed

Democracy installed
The ship was in dry dock
the captain and his crew ate at a canteen.
He and the officers had wine
The crew drank beer, bottles after bottles
loudly they told the officers what the thought
of the ship and her officers.
They had been let loose from the discipline
opposed upon them like children left alone
when the teacher had gone for a pee.
It ended in a fist fight table and chairs flying
in the air.
Next day the captain and his officers sat
sharing a big table with the team nothing to drink
for anyone, the captain was a wise man
the team loved him for that.
