Den Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Den

Den

Have had my animals
-know beating of the heart
-in the cage and in barn

Know darkness of inside
-till is heard a wolf's howl
-with it comes a soft light
-of hope, healing, sort of calm

Homelessness is the same
-inside is full of pain
-But coming of the cold
-and bandits with the knife
-brings a sort of calm
-if held in shelter, den

-I could be S. McQueen
His father was colleague
Started serving tea,
Then learned of camera
Directed; produced…

-He left me abandoned
-kicked me out of his house
-claimed to know better
-I went to wilderness; criminal
-I became and he took story
-script is my life and sibling's
-made movie kept us out…

Now he is crippled
Ignored and badly hurt
Comedy I played; he smiled
Saw return of the rays of a life
But had to take him back to his den
In his eyes, on moment of goodbye
Could see the traces of the pain…
This is why today I
Feel guilty of being unable…
To hold and give a hand…
