The gates of hell are open wide
(Falling, falling deep inside)
Darkness grips the dying soul
Void of hope, a vast black hole
With no escape, no respite found
(Despair and sorrow all around)
Absent thoughts and absent eyes
Nothing there as reason dies
And joyless are the waking hours
(Gladness all the night devours)
Yet the dawning shall bring light
Just a spark to then ignite
For deep within that darkened space
Can be found a hint of grace
Look within that you may see
Something there to set you free
Perhaps a mem'ry from the past
A smile upon your face to cast
Chasing then the gloom away
Bringing forth a brand new day
