Desert Within Poem by fraidoon warasta

Desert Within

there grows a desert within me
sand grains absorb the shining sun
glitteringly reflect lights
almost blinding the galaxies

sun is floating shining piercing
the belly of desert with its sharp rays
roaming scorpions, lizards, tarantulas, rattle snakes
even the desert dragon
without attacking, to live on, devour each other
multiplying in numbers, growing in seven directions
till nightfall kicks off its dominance
the caravan of the camel clouds already departed
the sapphire sky emerges behind a rock
sifts the stars
each wave stroke of this sandy see
tells a story of night depth
nocturnal shrieks and mist

the silver moon
like a rolling ball covers the dessert
it breads a tiny fountain amid
the ever changing dunes
just right in there
a golden fish
wants to inhale the full moon
gazing at the milky way
and flies straight upward

there grows a desert in me
its shape is meaningless
there grows a desert
oasis already plundered
my dreams
displaced nomads

by noon a desert monster appears
grows larger and larger and takes over
the turquoise of the sky
it swallows everything
even the sun
but
in a few moments regurgitates
all her desires
desert starlit nights ceaselessly come and go
even without camels

when dawn cracks
the desert monster rises up her head again
everyone takes a rock
lifting carrying toiling
panting sweating to the top of
the high sandy dune
no one reaches
it falls again!
