Desires Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Desires

Here and there
inside and outside
desires are there
always to be fulfilled
Never they take rest
feeling contended
Nor they soothe the mind
to thrive in peace
Varied by needs and
stormed by situations
Arise desires of both
ethical and unethical
Exempted is not anyone
from their clutches
Entangled is everyone
in their unseen stitches
Seldom expressed
is any one's dark side desires
Bound to be exposed
when limits are crossed
Image we create
for sake of outside world
coating it with morals
culture and nobility
