Despair Poem by Lynn Stillman

Despair

Rating: 5.0

I step into the night sky,
I find a path of stars
to walk across.
The path seems familiar to me.
I can now remember being here
as a child.
Skipping from star to star.
The way they twinkle is somehow
different now.
It is as if they are mocking me,
laughing at me,
for all of the wishes I made upon them.
I try to walk further,
but as I do, I come to a gap.
My legs are weak and unsteady
from the stress of standing up to this day.
I haven't the strength to make the leap
to another tomorrow.
So into the black hole I plunge.
The velocity of despair,
far surpasses,
the speed of light.
