Despair Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Despair

The words will not come,
I am confused and torn.
Thoughts scatter, hither and yon.

To whom do I turn?
To tell of my despair?
Will anyone listen?
Do they really care?

Despair is like a worm,
Deep in your soul.
It tunnels and eats away,
As it roams.

I am tired and sick,
In my heart and my soul.
To give up would be easy,
Just end it all.

Selfish that would be,
For those left to despair.
Why pass on a legacy,
My love can’t repair.

So try as I may,
To live and forget,
All the hurt, the pain,
Unhappiness untold.

I smile and pretend,
All is well in my world.
As I swallow the tears,
I so want to let roll.
