Despairing Heart Poem by Ludolf Dauphin

Despairing Heart

Never before was she loved
within a heart imbued with love
with sweet whispered
the quiet stillness of honesty
where love immersed in truth

where was love
when she needed love
Beyond oceans, beyond nights

where she drew into light
she admitted her broken heart
where she loves intolerably
but never has she been love
Beyond oceans, beyond nights

She heard voices in the night,
The tearing sorrow of bitterness,
The rage of the sea,
she felt shivering in the cold night
Scared, heart trembled in distress,
like lifeless flowers,
beneath the sunlight, seeking sheltered

where was love
when she needed love
Beyond oceans, beyond nights
