Destiny Poem by maas weerabangsa

Destiny

DISTANT VISION

Into the world of manhood I did trod from my teens,
A healthy man with a bounty of hope and means;
Like a blooming flower enchanting many a maidens heart,
Free as a bird that fly till the clouds do part.

Like a dancing peacock I am filled with pride,
Many a hands extend help as if to a new bride;
The voices I hear around me are songs of praise,
I am their dream the brave knight with grace.

Around me the birds flocked and sang with glee,
As I walked pass pretty flowers bowed to me;
Dew drops covered the grass like a white sheet,
Like sparkling diamonds strewn at my feet.

A thousand eyes gaze as I go by,
They envy me I do not know why;
Of me some speak good and some speak ill,
To any man in life this is a bitter pill.

I try to be friendly and lovable to others,
I treat everyone as sisters and brothers;
To me some are true and very faithful,
But there are others eternally hateful.

Silver spoons in their mouths for some are placed when young,
Others achieve it by selling their dreams with forked tongues;
Why does life bestow wealth and happiness for some,
While there are others who seem to be blessed with none.

Their hopes and dreams go past like the breeze,
Like snow that fall on the earth and freeze;
Struggling to reach what the fingers could touch,
Lacking the door of opportunity to accomplish anything as such.

This then is the life of man by nature so cruel and wile,
But if given half a chance will stoop to eat his own bile;
All this I still ponder and yet do not know,
How my fellow beings could stoop to be so low.

Of my future and destiny I have set my sight,
Bold as I am but I still shiver in fright;
Oh God to you I pray every day and every night,
Let not humans add two wrongs to make one right.
