Christmas

CHRISTMAS

Christmas has come welcome it with a burning hearth,
The rich and the poor would dry their tears in mirth;
Mankind will celebrate the holy one's birth,
An event that prevails in this blessed earth.

Glorify the Sheppard thy lord with a holy bow,
To pay this homage you should know how;
As you feel the cold wind blow in the winter sky,
It's a time to rejoice and not a time to cry.

In Bethlehem the lord was born long ago,
In a humble shed with not even a door;
The angels were there to pray and sing,
At the birth of the lord the heavenly king.

The cheer of Christmas brings to our mind,
As the only refuge mother Mary did find;
There were no trees cottage or farm,
But the heavenly angels kept the lord warm.

How very simple the birth may seem to be,
Truly it is a welcome and very dear to me;
As the whole world resume this annual cheer,
To celebrate Christmas and a happy new year.
As old customs do keep with the day,
Spend your Christmas in a harmless way;
As old fashions yearly fade away,
Deck yourself in garments new and gay.

As the home fire curl up a warm charm,
Keeping everyone happy and warm;
Dad decorates the house chimney nook,
Lopping cob web with a sharpened hook.

Out comes Grandpa's wines and ales,
With plenty of laughs and Christmas tales;
Grandma presents her roasted turkey,
Which she maintains to be spicy not murky.

Mom's Yule cake decked with plums,
Makes its way to the table without any hums;
As usual on the supper table it would be found,
With the happy children gathered all round.

Finally they begin to pray on bended knees,
Offering their thanks to the lord like honey bees;
Another joyful Christmas day they did enjoy,
Drinking and toasting Christmas eve ‘good bye'.
