Destruction Poem by Jade Leven

Destruction

I fell asleep tonight not knowing what I was feeling
if I try it’s almost like I can hear you breathing
my thoughts return to all the innocence we left way back there
and I wake up and I don’t know why, but I’m scared
it doesn’t mean anything how many lines you’ve crossed
somewhere within your words I can hear that you’re lost

my love
destruction is your faith
and now all I can do is wait
I’m sorry, I have to call you a liar
light your match, set love on fire
my love
destruction is your faith

I fell asleep last night not knowing what my intuition was saying
all these mixed up riddles, my mind was delaying
here I am, and you don't understand
here is our love slipping through my hands

my love
destruction is your faith
and now all I can do is wait
I’m sorry, I have to call you a liar
light your match, set love on fire
my love
destruction is your faith

and I wrote your name and walked your streets
and I felt your ground beneath my feet
you built a love and you built these walls
but you only did it to watch them fall

my love
destruction is your faith
and now all I can do is wait
I’m sorry, I have to call you a liar
light your match, set love on fire
my love
destruction is your faith
and your power
and your life

I fell asleep tonight not knowing what I was feeling
and you leave my world in ruins
