Develop African Zeal Poem by Yohanes Jemaneh

Develop African Zeal

Have African ardency
Avoid entertaining jealousy
You may say
the world doesn't operate this way
but if you settled on black loam
Delivered by the longest stream

You ought to reflect African position
you may say dependence is our distinction
but if you cannot stand alone
you won't correct posture of your own

Then if you have real faith in your continent
and perceive your nation as ‘gift of African asset'
that ‘the land of freedom' originate

You should be proud for residing on African land
which is rich in resources but untapped
Due to be harnessed

Today we firmly stand for independence
to bake own bread in patience
to stand before the world with confidence

If you want to join us for improvement
you need to refrain from plotting against
African development
by inviting others to a family conflict.
