Dhaushkodi Visit Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Dhaushkodi Visit

Rating: 5.0

Dhanushkodi, the abandoned town's
At the end of the path
Of an arrow shot from a gigantic bow
Straight east out of Pamban Island.

The sandy habitat in Tamil Nadu
Was annihilated in 1964 cyclone
People lost lives
Properties totally destroyed.

The place today
Is a tourist attraction
Inhabited by some fishermen
And strewn with few shopping stalls.

At the end's Palk Strait
Sri Lanka's a short distance away
In the legend Ramayana
Rama built here a floating bridge to cross.

For tourists it is
Only visit by day
A great view and clear sea
Greet everyone who turns up here.
