did i say love?
i dont know the meaning of the word!
did i say angels voices
was the music that i heard that day?
did i pretend to understand the song?
impatient heart, be still!
my soul, be strong!

did i say love?
you know i dont believe in such a thing!
did i say winter's frozen chill
gave way to sudden spring
that day? did i surrender
caution to the thaw?
oh fearful heart, be brave!
my soul, be calm!

did i say love?
i dont believe i've had the pleasure yet.
have we been introduced before?
i doubt that i'd forget
that day. do you intend
to set up hoiuse with me?
suspicious heart, believe
my soul, be free!
