Did Not The Mists Poem by moon batchelder

Did Not The Mists

did not the mists at dawn desist,
did not the night surrender to the sun,
did not the shadows flee the light,
did not the evenings chill become undone,
what benefit could day present?
what glory then the morning over night?

so is it when love pure descends
to fill a soul unwilling to requite!
