Did We Ever Invite In Saleem Sinai To Celebrate The 50 Years Of Independence? (Ref. Midnight's Children)

Did we ever invite in
Saleem Sinai
While celebrating
The fifty years
Of independence,
The midnight children
Born during independence,
The midnight declaration?

Sinai, they will not,
Forget you
That you still remember
The incidents and happenings
What it happened then, took place
Behind the curtain
Or while at table,
It happens, happens!

Forget you that
You remember the night still
Which the politicians do not,
Have forgotten
As they are not aware of it,
Have not seen
Nor have read it about
In books
Nor love they books!

Thank you, thank you,
Saleem Sinani
For the bands played
The music,
The shehnoi you
Played with your
Midnight born friends
Celebrating, in jubilation of!

Thank you, thank you for
Your memoir, reminiscence,
Remembrance of
India's declaration for freedom,
Nehru distributing chocolates,
Firecrackers being cracked,
Freedom fighters and leaders celebrating!
