Did You Get Treated Better Poem by David Howerton

Did You Get Treated Better

Do you ever know if you are being taken seriously? Once upon a time, everything you said I thought was serious. The most silly stories, mistaken for truth.
On those ancient days, what was real crawled out of a book in answering a question of vast import? Being ridiculed for not knowing the joke as the jape is lost the asker shakes there head and leaves bark floor lifted to reveal insecurity the need to be able to give a knowledgeable answer. When with time, the need abated less my soul grew stronger. The power of night fades these battles turn a Mask of humility.
In a part of the racial memory, I know that eternity was mine, from the black pit opening a picture of hideous youth destroying the Cosmos in a flash they were yelling, 'Take your demons away.' Referring to all of us born before they were.
