Paradise still exists in Kashmir
And elsewhere too
But for the lust of few
It has lost its charm and we can see it and view
Who are outsiders?
Indian citizen can’t settle here
Even local Kashmiri Pundits* are forced to flee
Where is paradise free?
Nearby hostile country sends mercenaries
It has only added miseries
Where is love for local?
Even disarmed uniform men are killed on arrival
Valley was saved from marauders
By army who pushed them across border
Large territory still remains under occupation
There is love lost relation
Why do local give refuge to armed terrorists?
Who hide in forest!
And strike at innocent people
Do we call it just struggle?
India is country of different religion
It is only country in region
Where religion is professed and practiced at will
Flag of hostile country is never raised to reveal their allegiance
If we want to create bad blood
Its impact shall be felt in neighborhood too
Poor shall be divested of their food
The real situation must be understood
No country shall ever opt for disintegration
It is against the principle of unison
The state has opted for merger by rules
As done by other states as matter of principle
14 May 2015 TO: Mr. Hasmukh Mehta One of my cousin-in-law was in India Army in Major rank (since deceased) . He was in the Kashmir front when the Indian Army pushed back the marauders and were poised to push them back further beyond the border of Kashmir. At that moment came order of ceasefire from our then Prime Minister Nehru who, with his supreme wisdom, contemplated that was the best course for peace! At that time, the Indian soldiers literally wept in their trenches as I heard from my said cousin-in-law. Your poem reminded me this anecdote. Rajat Das Gupta Rajat Das Gupta, Kolkata May 14,2015
