Diphenhydramine Poem by Austin Lockwood

Diphenhydramine

Diphin out on the town
Pulse starts to pound
Thoughts start to drown
Memory crashed in the ground
I'm startled by normal sound
I'm lost and not found

My delirium is growing
Where am I going?
What is this sign showing?
I wander around without knowing

An old friend approaches me
Their familiar face is plain to see
So I greet them like I ought to be

A full conversation then plays out
I can't remember what was talked about

I snap out of it then
the conversation has never been

It was in my head all along
My logic easily proves it wrong

Then I shift into a trance
and the trees start to dance

Colors swirl and shift on every surface
If I focus I can even do it on purpose

Whats this place that I'm in
Its a familiar place that I've never been
Now I slip into a trance again
I wonder how this night will end

Awesome! This rapid, hallucinatory kaleidoscope that is your composition is exciting, poignant and the imagery is almost palpable.
