Disappear O Poet Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Disappear O Poet

Enough of smiling, lamenting,
Let her come, no more approaching.
From a summit let her come down,
To meet her there no more climbing;
I want to be so stand aloof,
Let air no more find me blocking.
Now that I've made my mind steady,
Fear there's of fight nor yet falling;
Disappear from stage, O Pen-pusher,
E'en you find it hard, you finding.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Subhash Shah was my college mate, we were fairly close. But we lost touch after our post-graduation. I hardly worked in Gujarat which was his sole field. He introduced absurd plays (a World War II by-product)to Gujarati literature, and always did something new as a poet and litterateur. Today I read his poem in Gujarati paper and also found that he is no more. This translation is my tribute to him.
