Disillusioned Mind Poem by Ellen Rose Guilaran

Disillusioned Mind

The skies above split into two
The light and its unassuming grey brother
This city screams to 'Never leave me! '
As I see the countryside home
Then I whisper, 'I wish I could my dear'
I kiss this beautiful, fleeting view
Since I have to go home
No matter what, I need to go home

I, too, once believed in this city's whisper
Only to be deceived by the fun of the rich
The modernist capitalism, true enemy of the people
Reached a dry land where the carriage arrived
Running far away from the way, just like how I
Run away from my problems
And the problems of the unaddressed and poor
How I take and take and take
But I won't burst
Instead, leave a depression where my body was
A scar on the ground hard to overcome
And even more to heal
