Before you see, or start to speak
All nations demand their fresh meat
They'll graze you in coop called school
and program you as loyal tools
each morning you will stand in class
and listen to your fatherlands mass
they'll grind you down with flags and anthems
then hold your thoughts to civic ransom
Your independence will be stripped
conditioned as the next conscript
you'll be chewed out without persuasion
In a slaughterhouse called education
Your next in place of the assembly line
taught war buys peace for democracies crimes
Feeling the meat hooks of patriotism
Digging their way with tribal sophism
They'll sell you war as a call to duty
Make you see halos in a no man's beauty
groom a fool pawn to think he's king
to be a non-player in a body bag sting.
Your prime cut meat to serve your nation
The clay molded to keep its station
Train you to serve god and country
And die to fill your leader's tummy's
See naivety reap what the peddlers sow
the next crop grows off the blood of death row
There's nothing sweeter than innocence's used
for the next generation of Disposable youth
A powerful poem. So deeply poignant and heart-rending.
The youth are the future of a nation. They must be nurtured and their potentials must be honed. Yet, they are being recruited to enter into the military and engage in war. So sad to see those youth that are taken so early through senseless killings.
