Distance Poem by Melody Stargaze

Distance

I have fallen madly in love with you these last four months,
It’s a feeling that won’t be easy to shake.
But this distance that stands between us
Can’t help but make my heart ache.

I hate having to ask to come see you,
I hate not hearing your voice every day.
I hate not having the freedoms I want with us
I hate the long drive to come your way.

It cuts like a knife that we can’t have what our love deserves,
Though they say distance makes the heart grow fonder.
But I’m an impatient person, and I’ll admit it.
I just hope that this is helping our bond grow stronger.

I’m sorry if I take my frustration out on you,
But this is killing me inside.
I’d give anything to see you every day;
Just to have you by my side.

The worst part is that I worry far too much.
Yes, I do trust you,
But I am terrified that someone else is going to come along
And show you that I’m not good enough for you.

I’m afraid that you’ll grow tired of me.
Or that I’ll mess up somehow,
I’m going to do all in my power to prevent that.
I just can’t lose you, especially not now.

We’ve invested so much time into what we have,
And trust me, it is more than enough.
I just want to have you closer to me,
Because what we share is greater than love.

I’m sorry if it seems like I am complaining,
But I needed to get this off of my chest.
I love you more than life itself,
You’re better than the best.
