Echoes of the distant past
fall upon my memory -
visions drifting through my mind,
faces which were dear to me.
Where now stir their silent hearts
yet in darkness gently cast -
beating softly through the night,
biding in the heavens vast.
How I yearn, once more, to see,
feel and touch them in the light -
know again their sweet caress,
heart and soul once more ignite.
Passing years take full their toll,
vacant rooms and empty chairs -
keys that turn in rusty locks,
teardrops falling, no-one cares.
